[Stable Release] Windows XP PowerPacker v1.0 RC17

Windows XP PowerPacker is a program I made to help users create Universal Windows XP Disks. It allows you to install any kind of XP edition on any computer without the need to install drivers and it packs everything onto one disk!

I've been wondering if you had time to keep plugging away at this incredibly useful program. Many thanks for all your hard work.

I have the RC10 source, but I haven't had time to wade through it lately. There's a lot in there. And I'm still learning. Don't wait for me! :)

Bug report:
Using PP to build ISO results in exact same symptoms reported here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8324&highlight=kb955759
MU/WU continually wants to install KB955759 because the strings used by CDIMAGE to build the ISO change the date stamps of the files.
Summary:
Don't use the switch " -t08/23/2001,09:00:00 " in PPCMD.au3 (line 135) for CDIMAGE or switch to MKISOFS instead.

The dosnet.inf floppyfiles quote fix is in here somewhere:
Code: Select all
Func _FloppyFilesGet($myfile, $name_in_root, $name_in_boot, $char)
   While 1
      Local $string, $mysize
      $mysize = FileGetSize($myfile)
      $string = FileRead($myfile, $mysize)
      If StringInStr($string, '[FloppyFiles.'&$char&']') Then
         $FF0 = IniReadSectionSingle($myfile, 'FloppyFiles.'&$char)
         If IsArray($FF0) Then
            For $i = 1 To $FF0[0]
               $noQuotes = StringReplace($FF0[$i], '"', '')

Interesting...I wondered why this update had issues. I usually just hide it :)

Any chance of this bug getting fixed? I noticed this was last updated nearly 4 years ago. Is this project abandoned? It is a very useful tool, regardless. I use it often. But if this bug could be fixed it would be perfect. Thanks.

Good news. I used CDIMAGE Beta 3 GUI to build my ISO and it solved the problem. I made sure to uncheck "-t time stamp for all files and directories". I had also been having a problem with Windows time zone reverting to GMT all the time. I think this may also solve that, as I unchecked "-g encode GMT time for files rather than local time". I also successfully made an addon for Java 6.24 (tested) since one was yet to be released. This has been a great week all around. My next build promises to be a huge improvement on the previous one. Thanks again MSP.

New release : Windows XP PowerPacker RC10

Postby SpinningCarrots » Sat Jun 11, 2011 7:05 pm

Hi,

I posted a new release of PowerPacker on the main web site. Here are the changes:

1. Removed date time stamp change of files during cd iso creation (which made windows update continually want to install KB955759).
2. Fixed it so that if dosnet.inf floppyfiles section contains quotes, a pack still succeeds.
3. Updated various information and web site references

Any feedback welcome!
