IBM Thinkpad w/an identity crisis

OEM A.C.T. (OEM Activation Control Technology)
This is a method that allows you to create a Windows XP Setup disk that has Multiple Manufacturer oembios.* files on it. During installation a script is run that determines what oembios.* files are needed for the system so that you will have a pre-activated install. This will help lessen the times that you need to call Microsoft for activation. :D

I haven't heard from Xehqter in a very long time. It's his project, so it's up to him to listen to customer feedback and respond. Remember, this project is very old too, so I wouldn't blame him for ceasing development on a legacy project.
Having said that, we can still work with the tools he has given us. :)
I think it's possible to give the users a bios choice in the batch file. Basically have two batch files; the original (with an added decision tree) and another modified one.
First the user would be asked to make a decision (full auto, or choose bios) which would default to full auto if no decision is made in about 30 sec.
If the user selects to choose, then the batch copies the contents of %cdrom%\OEM\ to %systemdrive% and calls batch#2 which contains the discriminators. The batch#2 would then delete everything in the local oemscan.ini that the user DIDN'T choose, thereby eliminating any false positives.

No promises when I'd be able to deliver that functionality, nor any guarantees it'll work.

Having a few problems here as well. I finally got things setup after converting my vlk cd to an oem one, but oemscan is picking my a lenovo as a hitachi, i moved hitachi to the bottom and then it picked it up as an ibm, i moved ibm to the bottom and it picked lenovo.

It seems to be a bit inaccurate sometimes, in reality I could probably remove all but maybe 4 or 5 machine types and that would likely cover almost everything I needed, just wondering if you had any suggestions on this, or if removing the unneeded ones is likely the best idea.

tks.

Just wanted to add that once i kinda forced it to use the lenovo selection by moving the other options out, it did activate.

Good to know! I'm actually getting ready to upload a new version (added vendors and oeminfo.ini fixes). I'll rearrange the IBM/Lenovo entries to alleviate that problem. Thanks for reporting, and I'm glad you got it working.
